About Hungaroring
The Hungaroring is a motorsport race track in Mogyoród, Hungary, just northeast of Budapest. It has been hosting the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix since 1986, and it was the first Formula One race to take place behind the Iron Curtain.
The Hungaroring is known for its tight and twisty layout, which many drivers compare to a karting circuit. It has often been described as 'Monaco without the walls' due to its technical nature and the difficulty in overtaking. The track is built in a natural valley, offering spectators a view of approximately 80% of the circuit from any point.
Due to its technical layout with many medium-speed corners, the Hungaroring is a track where driver skill can make a significant difference. It's particularly challenging because it's difficult to find a rhythm, and the constant turning means tires are worked hard throughout a lap. The track surface is also known to be quite dusty off the racing line, making it tricky for drivers who venture off the ideal line.
